
Rosie Perez (born Rosa Maria Perez on the 6th of September 1964) is an American actress, choreographer, dancer, and activist. Her breakthrough role as Tina in Do the Right Thing (1989) was followed by White Men Can't jump (1992). Perez's performance as Tina , in Fearless (1993) brought her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Perez has appeared in a number of films since her time in the film and has appeared in films such as It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado ((2000), Pineapple Express (2008) and Birds of Prey (2021). She was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Award nominations, one for In Living Color (1990-1994), and another nomination for her role in The Flight Attendant (2020-2021). She has performed in stage plays on Broadway like The Ritz, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, and Fish in the Dark. In the 18th season of the show, she also co-hosted on ABC's talk program The View. She was a student at Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood. In 1999, her mother was living in the poverty of Woodside Houses when she died from AIDS-related complications.
