
Heidi Watney, born May 19, 1981 Heidi Watney, born May 19, 1981, is an American sportscaster as well as a reporter on Apple TV+. A graduate of the University of San Diego, her previous broadcasting experience includes assignments at MLB Network, New England Sports Network in Boston, Time Warner Cable SportsNet in Los Angeles, and two stations located in Fresno. Watney was a Clovis West High School student in Fresno. She was a participant in gymnastics, hurdles, and diving. She was a National Merit Scholar. She was accepted into the University of San Diego with an academic scholarship. In 2003 she graduated with top marks. Watney was the Miss California USA 2002 runner-up. Watney is the cousin professional golfer Nick Watney. Seven years ago, Andy Weir, author of The Martian science fiction novel claimed that Watney was his name and was the one who invented the character Mark Watney from it. The name was mentioned during an Red Sox broadcast. Watney was in the music video of Dropkick Murphys' "Going Out in Style" single. She also appeared as a sideline reporter on the games on video MLB The Show 19, MLB The Show20, and MLB The Show 21, respectively. [10]
